In the Automotive sector, UNECE regulations (also known as ‘ECE Regulations’) are in force, which lay down the requirements that various vehicle components must have in order to be placed on the market.

What is UNECE?

The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), established in 1947, is one of the five regional commissions of the United Nations.

The main purpose of the UNECE is to promote pan-European economic integration. To do this, it brings together the 56 countries of the European Union, the non-EU countries of Western and Eastern Europe, the countries of South-Eastern Europe, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and North America.

All these countries dialogue and cooperate under the auspices of the UNECE on economic and sectoral issues, and also regulate numerous aspects related to the marketing of products within the European Union (and beyond).

More than 70 international trade organisations and other non-governmental organisations also participate in the activities of the UNECE, as well as all interested UN Member States.

What is the UNECE transport division?

CELAB can support you with automotive component testing activities.

In particular, CELAB is equipped for R10 Regulation testing, electromagnetic compatibility testing for CE marking, environmental and qualification testing of objects that go on board vehicles and must follow manufacturers’ technical standards (e.g. FIAT).

Among the various testing possibilities are climate tests on vehicles, for example:
– EN 1789:2007 for ambulances
– UN-ECE testing
